This weekend get ready for sugar mice and coconut ice, Buckby cans,mugs, and wooden spoons, (all painted with roses and castles), restored historic boats, folk music, boat trips, trade stands, roving traders and of course the beer tent. It’s festival time again!

There are four festivals kicking off this weekend, so take a look at our mini-guide and decide which one is nearest to where you live.

Middlewich Folk and Boat Festival 17th– 19th June

With live folk and roots music, Morris dancing, clog dancing, a floating market, visiting boats, traders stalls and ten ‘fringe’ venues this festival offers entertainment on a large scale: Now in its 26th year. There are camping facilities if you don’t have your boat with you.

Foxton Locks Festival 18th- 19th June

Live music, fun fair, craft fair, fun dog show, and an arena entertainment programme make this a great weekend for all the family. Gongoozlers can enjoy watching the colourful boats using the locks, and moored along the towpath you’ll find a good selection of historic, private and trading boats,selling fudge, sweets, handicrafts and 'boaty' bits.

Stoke Bruerne Canal Festival 18th-19th June

Theatre, dance, children’s activities, live music, food, real ale, a market, a craft show and BOATS! This pretty canal-side village hosts trading boats, visiting boats, families and entertainers for the weekend and any surplus monies raised by the organisers are donated to the Friends of The Canal Museum charity.

Historic Boat Festivalin Burscough 18th – 19th June

As part of the celebrations for the Leeds & Liverpool Bicentenary, Burscough are holding a weekend of entertainment. This historic boat festival is joining the line-up, offering music and food on Saturday night and a summer fayre on Sunday, at Burscough Cricket Club. There will also be vintage cars, heritage events, walks and crafts.
