With or without a boat if you enjoy the canals there are four very different events happening on the Grand Union this April.

1. Easter Egg Hunt at Stoke Bruerne

The Canal Museum at Stoke Bruerne, near Towcester is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt with fun and games from 7th to 21st April.

2. Oral history day at The Canal Museum

You can also head to Stoke Bruerne to learn more about canal heritage on 13th April form 11am to 4pm. The history of the canals will be brought to life with interesting stories about the working boaters, their families and daily lives.

3. Meet the Easter Bunny Boat Trips

Hidden Depths Canal Cruises are running Easter boat trips from Kings Cross, on the Regents Canal in London from 19th to 21st April. There will be children’s activities on board including make an Easter chick, decorate an egg and meet the Easter bunny! The boat departs on the hour from 11am to 5pm. £10 adults, £8 child, senior.

4. Try Boating for Free

On the weekend of 12th - 13th April, Drifters Waterway Holidays is offering people the opportunity to try canal boating for free at 15 of its bases in England and Wales. This event is part of the British Marine Federation’s nationwide ‘On the Water’ campaign.

There will be boat tours, holiday discounts, free trips on skippered boats and there is no need to book.

If you’re thinking you’d like to ‘try before you buy’ this sounds like a great day out for a first time buyer.
