Broker's Comments

This 1920s Gentleman’s Motor Yacht was built as a yacht of teak carvel construction. Requisitioned in 1942 for war service, she was modified during the war with the addition of an auxiliary wing engine and a wheelhouse. Interestingly there is also some evidence in the timbers of the forecabin suggesting she had a gun mounted there.

This Motor Yacht was designed for extended cruising and the layout is almost at it was when she was built; copies of the original drawings of the layout are available. The yacht has has a full 6'3" headroom throughout and was originally built with berths for five crew members, in three separate cabins. The spacious wheelhouse, which has a chart table and access to both side decks, provides greater living accommodation and compliments the exterior look of the boat. The main and forward decks provide space to enjoy outside, whilst also being comfortable to work from when sailing and mooring the boat. The wheelhouse also provides access to the interior, with a saloon, heads, galley, and a double aft ‘state-room’. From the aft stateroom, there is also access to the aft deck. The forward cabin is a double, original built to include a bath and across the sleeping accommodation many of the original bunks remain. The cabins can be described as light, with the main cabin having both port-holes and a large deck-light.

This boat has had a fascinating life and with a completed refit could provide so much more. Used for living, cruising and work the potential is there and some of the work already undertaken.
