Broker's Comments

The Silhouette was a well respected little bilge keeled yacht from the drawing board of Robert Tucker back in 1953, originally intended for home building in ply. So successful was she that other builders took her on and Hurley joined in with the grp MkIII in 1965. Various builders continued to build both in Marine Ply and GRP and the Hurley built yachts were under Lloyds series production rules. Although mostly to be found tucked snugly inshore, Norfolk Broads and East Coast estuaries a favourite cruising ground, several Atlantic Crossings have reputedly been made in the venerable Silhouette and an active owners club and website are well worth a look if you wish to find out more.

Our example here requires a good dose of tlc but this is well within the capability of a keen amateur. She benefits from an apparently robust and appropriate road trailer with good tyres and a newish spare. Most of the work required to put this classic yacht in commission is of a cosmetic nature and, she's "as cheap as chips"!
