Broker's Comments
Ah, the Westerly Centaur. From the eloquent pen of Laurent Giles, the Centaur is one of the most popular and successful production yachts ever built - and with good reason. The Centaur is easy to handle, sea kindly, roomy and with a bilge keel ideal for exploring those nooks and crannies. They perform well under sail and are easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces under power. This example has the type 'B' layout, with ample space for six grown-ups.
I’ve seen plenty of Centaurs over the years, and this one is pretty good. She has been wintered ashore for most of her life. The engine was rebuilt in late 1996 and continues to run well (she also had a new s/s shaft and stern gland fitted at the same time). The owner is in the process of anti-fouling the boat. Although the interior is in generally very good condition (she was re-upholstered in 1999), the head lining does need replacing. The mainsail is almost new and the other sails are in generally good condition (some with very little use). This boat appears to have been well looked after and has a bulging file of service records and invoices.
An honest and pure sailing experience for less than £11,000 – can’t be bad!
