This weekend is the Rickmansworth Canal Festival 2012 and Boatshed Grand Union are sponsoring it. We will also have a stand to display information about our narrowboats, barges, project boats and widebeams for sale on or near the Grand Union Canal and London.

The canal and Aquadrome at Rickmansworth are simply stunning at any time of year; Stockers lock is one of my favourite visitor moorings, and my husband proposed to me beside a lake here at Ricky! It holds a special place in my boating heart.

This two day festival is a must if you are anywhere near Rickmansworth this weekend; and it’s a convenient tube ride from London. On Sunday the Metropolitan Line Heritage train will be running from Harrow to Amersham with a vintage bus service from Rickmansworth station to Batchworth lock.

The live music line-up this weekend ranges from community choirs to rock bands, indie, ska and punk. There’s also performance poetry, acoustic, blues and folk music on the acoustic stage. Look out for didgereedos, morris dancing and circus arts too. Boatshed Grand Union are providing the prizes for the canalboat tug of war. You can also see an audio-visual presentation on wildlife of the Aquadrome, a children’s farm, and shiny polished brass to dazzle you on the historic working boats. Did I not mention the boats? Oh yes, there are lots of boats, all along the cut from Batchworth lock to Stockers lock. I daresay a fair few will be decked out with bunting. I love a good boat festival!

Are you coming? I can’t go this year but Phil will be there to answer all your brokerage questions. If you’re thinking of buying or selling a narrowboat stop by for a chat. Even if you don’t want to buy a boat stop by anyway: Phil’s very friendly!
