Three Ways to Entertain the Kids This #Halloween
If Halloween just makes you think of costumes, parties, pumpkins and sweets then perhaps you haven’t thought of taking your little ones to London’s canals on 31st October? If you fancy an outing with a difference that the whole family can enjoy then here’s how to do something this Halloween that your kids will love.
1) Puppet Theatre Barge
The Puppet Theatre Barge is a 55-seat theatre in London’s Little Venice which presents shows throughout the year. On several dates at the end of October they are showing The Three Pigs and The Wolf, (Plus Captain Grimey), which is suitable for 3 to 8 year olds. These traditional characters are joined by a miserable one-legged seacaptain (Grimey), and a golden dolphin, to tell this morality tale. For dates, more information and tickets visit www.puppetbarge.com
2) West London Boat Trips
Hillingdon Narrowboats Association are based near Uxbridge and offer Halloween boat trips running from the Coy Carp pub on 31st October. There will be pumpkin soup, tea, coffee and squash. You may also notice strange lanterns and other spooky things along the towpath! Each trip takes about 45 minutes and costs £5 for adults, £2 for children and you can book online at http://www.hna.org.uk
3) Islington Tunnel Cruises
Camden Canals and Narrowboat Association offer a spooky cruise through the Islington tunnel at Halloween, and the boat leaves from the London Canal Museum. Children will receive free sweets and a glowstick and there will be a friendly witch on board the decorated boat. The trip lasts around 50 minutes, but allow extra time to visit the canal museum too. The trips are running onSaturday 31st October and Sunday 1st November.
